OUR PHILOSOPHY

The culmination of Carolina Bowl week is represented in a football game…but what we do is MUCH more than just play a football game.  There are two different objectives to our event.  First, we build young people, and second, we support (through financial donation) selected philanthropic charities (currently St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital)…both of which are critical in today’s society.  Although much emphasis is spent helping others throughout the world and their struggles (which are very real), we often forget/neglect our own struggles and challenges here at home.

Our Youth are our future.  Many of our youth don’t have the luxuries that others have. Many don’t come from structured, positive, spiritually uplifting and loving home environments.  Instead, they come from broken homes, poverty, and despicable conditions…with little to no uplifting and spiritual guidance.  They are prisoners to their situation.  Many from these situations psychologically resign themselves to perpetuating that same environment.  However, we don’t believe that is acceptable.  We believe that our youth are strong, capable and intelligent individuals, that many times just need positive role models and those that believe in them.  That’s what the Carolina Bowl is really about.  We provide guest speakers to lift and inspire.  We provide an environment where they can positively contribute in a team setting.  We provide them with positive role models to emulate.  We partner with like-minded organizations as we provide them spiritual guidance.  We provide them with friends working to achieve the same objectives.  We provide and enable them with service and fund raising opportunities by which they have the opportunity to work on interpersonal communication and goal setting.  We provide them an environment to magnify self-confidence and physical fitness.  We provide them a sense of accomplishment in what some may consider an otherwise stagnant and mundane situation.  We provide them an experience that can change the direction of their lives.

Participation in the Carolina Bowl will be a positive experience for personal growth for all of our young participants (football, band & cheer)…and St. Jude’s will receive much needed funds to facilitate their continued support of those youth battling life threatening conditions.
